Okasan Securities Co., Ltd.

Okasan Securities Co., Ltd. (Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Kenichi Tanaka) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) aimed at establishing an operational tie-up with MasterLink Securities Corp., a major Taiwanese securities company, on November 6.

1.Reasons for operational tie-up

Currently, the Company targets Asian markets for which rapid growth is expected over the medium- to long-term, as part of its program to build a product and information provision infrastructure from the "global perspective" cited in the medium-term business plan. It is therefore strengthening its research and publications capabilities and expanding the range of markets for which it provides brokerage services equities.

Historically, Japan and Taiwan have a close relationship, with strong economic ties, and the flow of capital between the two is likely to grow further in the future. The Company therefore decided to form an operational tie-up with a major local broker MasterLink Securities in order to obtain research on the Taiwanese market and upgrade broking capabilities on the local stock exchange.

This tie-up is the fifth with leading brokers in Asian markets, following alliances with BIDV Securities (Vietnam) in November 2006, China Galaxy Securities (China) in July 2010, OSK Investment Bank Berhad(Malaysia) in March 2011, and Daishin Securities (Korea), in June 2012.

4.About the Asian strategy

The Company has strengthened its Asian business since starting to handle Chinese equities in 2002, expanding the range of markets for which it handles Asian equities as well as its line-up of Asian investment trusts. Alliances with local brokers, including the most recent tie-up, have strengthened our ability to execute orders on Asian markets.

The new operational tie-up with MasterLink Securities will start with the exchange of information on the macro-economy and securities markets, and with agency operations for equity orders from institutional investors, but the scope of the business will be expanded in the future.

The MOU was signed on November 6 at the Okura Prestige Taipei.
